Our Story

Football was my whole life. In 2015, I finally achieved my dream of playing at the collegiate level. But during my freshman year, everything changed. During practice, I felt a pop in my knee, followed by a sharp pain—and just like that, my dream was over.

Unable to participate in team sports, I struggled with my mental health. I missed the camaraderie, the sense of belonging, and my confidence took a major hit. I felt lost.

Then, a conversation with a friend, who coaches youth sled hockey, gave me a new perspective. She shared how many athletes face far greater challenges—debilitating, lifelong injuries—and how the high cost of adaptive sports equipment is one of the biggest barriers for families.

That conversation changed everything. I realized the power of sports goes beyond the game—it fosters connection, confidence, and opportunity. Inspired to make a difference, my friends and I founded Freedom Athletics Foundation to help athletes of all abilities access the equipment and support they need to thrive.
